IIAR USA Virtual Forum with Jeff Golterman, Gartner

The IIAR USA will be holding its next virtual Forum with Jeff Golterman, GVP, Product Management, Gartner on Thursday 22nd September, 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST. A panel of experts will be sharing their advice in a best practice call on training the analyst spokesperson on Wednesday 21st September, 4-5pm BST / 11-12pm ET / 8-9am PT.

[IIAR Teleconference] Phones hot up over a crisis in the industry

Last week the IIAR hosted a discussion group in which members directly tackled issues relating to the industry affecting both analysts and analyst relations professionals.

Led by Ed Gyurko, IIAR Board member, the conversation addressed how AR professionals can better communicate with analysts and get stronger internal buy-in. Duncan Chapple, MD  (Lighthouse AR) told members, “Most analysts now receive far less information from vendors and as a result are much less likely to recommend vendors than they were a year or two ago. Jan 12th IIAR Discussion Group for Mobile World Congress

Yesterday’s Teleconference on best practice AR for GSM featured Liz Pellegrino, Program Director for GSM, Elizabeth Rainge, IDC analyst, and Jon Peet, Head of Industry Analyst Relations, Nokia Siemens Networks. The panelists shared their expertise and recommendations for getting the most out of Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona in February.   • AR must help identify the right events to focus on
  • Invest in fewer events, and look closely at attendee list
  • In general ROI for participating at events is difficult to ascertain
    – Short term ROI – measured in blog postings, published notes, twitter notes
    –   Long term ROI – shifted analyst perceptions(change in annual vendor rating report)
  • In general ROI for participating at events is difficult to ascertain
  • Do as much as you can as early as you can
  • These events are not opportunities for briefings & knowledge transfer
  • Follow-up after the event, generating conversations afterwards is what results in knowledge transfer

IIAR invites members to an open exchange of ideas with Forrester Research

The IIAR is delighted to host a teleconference by Forrester Research to share some results from its recent interview series of AR managers and have an open exchange with the IIAR membership regarding our feedback. The call is scheduled for Friday 14th May 2010 from 1600 BST to 1700 BST / 11:00am EST to 12 noon EST.

The research firm’s VP/Role Manager Eric Lobel will share some of Forrester’s insights as it pertains to the issues central to the IIAR membership.
