Last week, the second German IIAR Stammtisch gathered AR professionals and analysts for a private dining event in central Munich, this led into an interesting and enjoyable discussion about AR measurement. The overarching question was how to best communicate internally the value analysts can bring to the business, and the value of well managed communications between vendors and analysts.
“Why should I speak to this analyst” is a question AR pros are often confronted with. The pressure on AR pros has risen during the past years in terms of showing the return of investments gained through analyst relations and showing the value analysts can bring. In recent years expectations have both grown and changed. Analysts are well aware of the new challenges, and eager to learn how to address.
In past years reports, whitepapers and analyst advice were naturally part of the relationship, today budgets are tighter in many companies, and investments in analyst insights have shrunk. Or teams became smaller, and bandwidth more limited to support research projects. Even more important becomes the task to explain to the internal stakeholders the treasures analysts can open up for them, and the value they can bring to the business. Continue Reading →

With nearly 150 Analysts and AR Professionals confirmed to attend on the night, the 9th December, it seemed as though all arrived together to share a glass (or two, or three, or more) at the IIAR Christmas Party. The private room at the Convent Garden hostelry, complete with roaring fire and Christmas decorations was, at times, full to bursting. Never the less, a good time was had by all who attended and the “free bar” (kindly sponsored by Dell) lasted all evening. Here are a few words, provided by our sponsor …
From a Dell perspective, the evening provided a fantastic networking opportunity in a fun and festive setting. The impressive turnout and the wide variety of analysts and AR professionals in attendance, created the ideal environment to catch up with existing analyst connections as well as establish new relationships with the ever-growing EMEA analyst community. 2014 has certainly been a busy year for all and the IIAR Christmas drinks were a great way to celebrate the successes of the year as we look towards an exciting 2015. Analyst Relations: it can be rewarding, exhilarating, frustrating and – despite the fact that we’re often talking with analysts and spokespeople – it can be lonely, too. Especially when you’re the only one at your company who does what you do . . . or even knows what you do!
As AR professionals, we are often a team of one, haven’t had much formal training, and are being asked to do more than ever before. It’s not easy. But we’re not alone. We are part of of a global community, one that is growing, evolving and learning to address new challenges every day.
For several years, IIAR members in the UK and Europe have taken advantage of IIAR Networking Cafe events to meet up, make new contacts, discuss common challenges and opportunities, mentor each other and strengthen the AR Community.
Now, we’re bringing the same opportunity to the the other side of the “pond”. Continue Reading →
