Social media for the APJ AR pro

IIAR Asia-Pacific recently held a virtual forum to discuss social media. It was a great opportunity to talk more about one of the current hot topics in the AR industry and how it relates to the local APJ markets.

Discussion centred on different uses of varying social media channels leading to the conclusion that social media represents an extension to personal communication preferences. For Steven Noble, (Senior Analyst / Forrester), social media is a normal part of his working life and used through the development of a research paper. At each step social media plays its part; awareness gathering, development of research topic ideas, information gathering, surveying, publishing, promotion.

Mandi Bateson (Head of Social / Mindshare) said that social media referred to anything that was a dialogue rather than a broadcast, allowing one another to engage with those involved in decision-making processes. For instance, what you do with social media is similar to what you do offline:

  • Networking
  • Roundtable discussions
  • Sharing whitepapers
  • Relationship management
  • Research and evaluation of the buying process
  • Personal profile development

IIAR members can download more detailed notes including tips on how vendor AR should use social media to engage with analysts via huddle.

Our thanks go to guest panellists: Steven Noble, Mandi Bateson and host Dave Noble (IIAR APJ Chapter Lead / Intelligen).
