IDC EMEA is seeking a research analyst to join the European Software and Services Research Group. The successful candidate will become a key member of a distributed European team of specialized analysts addressing business services and IT services issues in the Enterprise market.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The key focus of the job is to support and drive the forecast process for the European services markets including developing and maintaining Excel forecast models. This also entails regular interaction with European country analysts and worldwide analyst teams. The job further requires market trend analysis, and development and writing of relevant research studies.
The research analyst will be working closely with other team members to support customer enquiries, deliver custom engagements, participate in client briefings and presentations and support other activities as required. It is expected that the research analyst over time will develop expertise in a chosen segment of the services market as part of career development.
MAIN DUTIES:
Maintain, update and develop the market forecast model for the European Services markets. This will include:
- Gathering data, reviewing scenarios and assumptions in collaboration with Services analyst colleagues, revising inputs to produce the quarterly forecast updates
- Delivering the forecasts to clients and to the global roll-up process
- Deal with clients of the European Services: Markets & Competitive Insights program: maintain contact lists, send out CIS material as appropriate, respond to and service client enquires etc.
- Contribute written documents to the European Services: Markets & Competitive Insights program, such as market forecast reports, event-driven short comments, etc.
- Support sales and marketing efforts for the European Services: Markets & Competitive Insights program, through activities such as visiting clients and prospects, etc.
- Contribute as required to custom consulting projects in the services market, especially those involving forecasts and other types of data analysis
- Keep abreast of developments in the European services market by reading relevant periodicals, receiving briefings from industry players and attending industry events
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
Requirements for this position include some knowledge of the IT and business services market in Europe. Successful candidates will have good analytical, writing, public presentation and communication skills. It is essential that candidates have very strong Excel skills as the role involves a significant amount of market tracking and forecasting.
The successful candidate will have good communication skills – written and verbal mastery of English – and should be self-motivated, able to work both independently and as a part of a team and consistently maintaining & meeting deadlines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The job will focus on local, regional & global projects and will involve the active participation in selected consulting projects for IDC clients such as Accenture, BT, Cognizant, IBM and others.
The Consulting Manager will work together with the head of the department to achieve budgeted bookings, revenue and profit target and will partner with consultants, analysts, sales, and other IDC groups to initiate, develop and manage market research and consulting projects.
MAIN DUTIES
The successful candidate will have a key focus on initiating and supporting sales & business development activities, be able to identify and develop new opportunities, participate in sales visits with Account Managers, as well as develop and write proposals for selected custom research/consulting projects, where necessary.
The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in successfully delivering projects that provide key critical market and competitive knowledge to our clients. Activities will include the identification of project solutions with other team specialists, identification of key resources needed to ensure successful delivery, client communication and relationship management and project management throughout the complete project lifecycle.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
Requirements for this position include proven, prior IT services relevant experience either from the industry or from another research firm, with a focus on business development, solution creation with senior level executives, project management and execution, analysis and writing abilities along with strong presentation and communication skills (both written and oral).
Candidates should have proven capabilities and a record of success in building strong relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
The successful candidate is self-motivated, able to work both independently and in team situations and is a consummate multi-tasker, consistently maintaining quality and meeting deadlines across multiple projects.

Energy Insights, an IDC company providing research and advisory services, is seeking a senior research analyst to cover information technology in the energy & utility industry. The analyst will be part of a team providing research-based advisory and consulting services to utilities, energy technology vendors and information technology vendors. The focus of this position is on the use of information technology to support business innovation in the energy delivery segment of utility industry, namely the Intelligent Grid Strategies Service. The analyst will have an opportunity to interact with thought leaders in the energy field in a hot new area – making the grid more intelligent, responsive and capable of handling the addition of new energy resources such as wind and solar.
The primary responsibility of the analyst will be to conduct research, produce written reports to support subscription services and support of custom research projects. These activities involve primary and secondary research as well as analysis of survey results. The analyst will also be responsible for coordinating and supporting a market forecast product for the utility industry. Other responsibilities include responding to client inquiries and providing support for sales and marketing. In this respect, the analyst will play an important role in interacting with clients to retain and expand existing business and with prospects to support development of new business.
The position calls for a highly motivated individual with exceptional writing, presentation, and client interaction skills. The ideal candidate has proven experience working as a research analyst covering information technology adopted in the Energy and utility industry. Practical work experience in the utility industry would be desirable.
Bachelor’s degree or equvalent and fluency in written and spoken English is required. Some travel will be required.
