We are kicking off Q1 of 2018 for the NYC chapter of the IIAR (Institute of Industry Analyst Relations) with our first networking dinner, taking place on Thursday March 29th at 6pm EDT.
A few inches of snow in the deep midwinter in Munich didn’t stop the 2018 IIAR German chapter kick-off from going ahead, with six intrepid AR professionals getting together to exchange news, views and the occasional snippet of gossip – under Chatham House rules, of course.
Hosted by IIAR Germany chapter leads Yvonne Kaupp (@YveKaupp, LinkedIn) and Simon Jones (@simondestrier, LinkedIn), the networking event was focused on the topic of “how to run an effective inquiry”, with IIAR members and guests (our “prospective members”) sharing best practice and experiences. One point which came through loud and clear is that everyone is nervous about running their first analyst inquiry calls – usually related to having enough questions to ask in a 30-minute call. The Christmas season took off with a bang last night with the IIAR Christmas Party taken place in the heart of DIGITAL UK in the Shoreditch Hotel. Attending were around 100 people from the Analyst community including around 70 industry analysts and 30 AR Pros. The analyst community was represented by analysts from Gartner, Forrester, PAC, IDC, IHS, Constellation and many others.
The event was kindly sponsored by Dell. From their perspective, the evening provided a fantastic networking opportunity in a fun and festive setting. The impressive turnout and the wide variety of analysts and AR professionals in attendance, created the ideal environment to catch up with existing analyst connections as well as establish new relationships with the ever-growing EMEA analyst community. 2015 has certainly been a busy year for all and the IIAR Christmas drinks were a great way to celebrate the successes of the year as we look towards an exciting 2016.
The other highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Analyst Firm and Analyst of the year. See Analyst of the Year 2015
A massive thanks to Jaqui and Carol for helping organize the event

The third IIAR Stammtisch meeting in Germany will bring together AR professionals with a focus on the German market to discuss common ground and exchange news and views, during after-work drinks in a popular Munich bar.
As a key topic for discussion, we’ve chosen “Analyst Relations for medium-sized businesses and what it can teach to AR professionals of large companies”. Once again we are inviting locally-based analysts to join us.
This is a key opportunity for AR professionals to join the biggest industry gathering of AR professionals and peers in Germany this fall. Note, IIAR membership is not required (but encouraged) for event attendees.
What else is going on in the German IIAR Chapter?
We are currently working on a whitepaper reflecting our discussion at the IIAR Stammtisch back in January. This will discuss the value of AR, the challenges AR pros are facing in their daily internal discussions and presenting also a wish list of AR and a wish list of analysts.
Reserve your space here!
The prestigious Lord’s Pavilion Roof Terrace set the scene for the biggest IIAR Summer Networking Party – a very special evening of drinks, jazz and networking with a crowd of more than 120 guests from 50+ firms and no powerpoint in sight!
Sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services, the party started with a note by Shankar Narayanan, TCS Country Head who welcomed cricketing legend, Graham Gooch OBE (ex England Cricket Team Captain and the scorer of the most runs ever!)
It was a perfect pitch for analysts and AR professionals to network and share ideas and best practice…..and the pictures are finally in at – view them at Flickr #IIARReception2015
Last week, the second German IIAR Stammtisch gathered AR professionals and analysts for a private dining event in central Munich, this led into an interesting and enjoyable discussion about AR measurement. The overarching question was how to best communicate internally the value analysts can bring to the business, and the value of well managed communications between vendors and analysts.
“Why should I speak to this analyst” is a question AR pros are often confronted with. The pressure on AR pros has risen during the past years in terms of showing the return of investments gained through analyst relations and showing the value analysts can bring. In recent years expectations have both grown and changed. Analysts are well aware of the new challenges, and eager to learn how to address.
In past years reports, whitepapers and analyst advice were naturally part of the relationship, today budgets are tighter in many companies, and investments in analyst insights have shrunk. Or teams became smaller, and bandwidth more limited to support research projects. Even more important becomes the task to explain to the internal stakeholders the treasures analysts can open up for them, and the value they can bring to the business. Continue Reading →

The IIAR Christmas Networking event is happening on 6th Dec 2012, 5 pm onward in Central London. This is an opportunity for analysts and AR peers to meet over informal drinks. We now have over 37 analysts from the following firms confirmed!
More than 35 top-name analysts attended last week’s IIAR UK networking event in a gathering that saw some 70 analyst and AR professionals get together on a (rare!) sunny afternoon.
It was a fantastic few hours in which Gartner, Forrester, IDC, Informa and Ovum were all well represented. Helen Ridgway, Managing Director at AxiCom said, “This is the second year that AxiCom has sponsored the IIAR Networking Event and we were delighted with the turnout. It is a great opportunity for us to say ‘thank you’ to the analysts for all their work over the year and to share and collaborate on best practices with AR peers. We are very pleased to be associated with the IIAR and the work that it does to serve the global AR community.”
Attendees were treated to drinks and canapés kindly provided via sponsorship from AxiCom with support from the IIAR. We are hugely grateful to AxiCom for their continued support of this event.
