When: Thursday 22 September 2016

The Internet and mobile technologies have changed the way people interact and created a population that is always on and always connected. This new connectivity and interaction patterns have opened up many new business innovation and opportunities, but at the same time has led to behavioral changes that are creating frictions and unmet expectations among employees, partners and customers/prospects. For many companies this manifests as a “sales” problem but is, in fact a buyer behavioral “problem”. Buyers are looking to new sources of information, sharing past experiences and in general influenced in new ways and by different I information sources. Continue Reading →

Horst Kuchling, Yvonne Kaupp and Simon Jones (from left to right) German IIAR Chapter

One of the biggest misconceptions about Analyst Relations is that you need megabucks or unlimited budgets in order to succeed. Of course, having the financial muscle to engage with analysts will ultimately get you further – and help drive deeper relationships with your Tier One analysts, but you can also do it on a budget. IIAR Christmas Party kicks of the festive season with a bang….

The Christmas season took off with a bang last night with the IIAR Christmas Party taken place in the heart of DIGITAL UK in the Shoreditch Hotel. Attending were around 100 people from the Analyst community including around 70 industry analysts and 30 AR Pros. The analyst community was represented by analysts from Gartner, Forrester, PAC, IDC, IHS, Constellation and many others.

The event was kindly sponsored by Dell. From their perspective, the evening provided a fantastic networking opportunity in a fun and festive setting. The impressive turnout and the wide variety of analysts and AR professionals in attendance, created the ideal environment to catch up with existing analyst connections as well as establish new relationships with the ever-growing EMEA analyst community. 2015 has certainly been a busy year for all and the IIAR Christmas drinks were a great way to celebrate the successes of the year as we look towards an exciting 2016.

The other highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Analyst Firm and Analyst of the year. See Analyst of the Year 2015

A massive thanks to Jaqui and Carol for helping organize the event

Wishing Everyone a Fantastic Christmas Holiday and a Prosperous New Year !!

3rd German Chapter Stammtisch in Munich

It’s been a lively dMunich city center, Germanyiscussion. The third German chapter IIAR Stammtisch end of October, in Munich gathered AR professionals and analysts speaking about the strategic role that analyst relations play in companies of different sizes and countries.

In a group of 9 we kicked off the AR discussion with an intro round at 7pm and didn’t stop until we realised it has gotten late. As a topic we had chosen “how is AR for medium-sized companies different to AR for large companies” and while it is clear that smaller companies can learn from the big players, we raised the questions, whether there is anything to learn as well the other way around. IIAR Jingle Bells c/o Dell

dell-blue_spot hi-resWith nearly 150 Analysts and AR Professionals confirmed to attend on the night, the 9th December, it seemed as though all arrived together to share a glass (or two, or three, or more) at the IIAR Christmas Party. The private room at the Convent Garden hostelry, complete with roaring fire and Christmas decorations was, at times, full to bursting. Never the less, a good time was had  by all who attended and the “free bar” (kindly sponsored by Dell) lasted all evening. Here are a few words, provided by our sponsor …

From a Dell perspective, the evening provided a fantastic networking opportunity in a fun and festive setting. The impressive turnout and the wide variety of analysts and AR professionals in attendance, created the ideal environment to catch up with existing analyst connections as well as establish new relationships with the ever-growing EMEA analyst community. 2014 has certainly been a busy year for all and the IIAR Christmas drinks were a great way to celebrate the successes of the year as we look towards an exciting 2015.

Dell also provided a fantastic tablet computer for the prize draw. The lucky winner was Peter Hall, Principal  Analyst at Ovum.

For those who missed the evening – and who attended, here are a few pictures, some taken before the crowd fully developed !

Here’s to another great IIAR Party and may we wish everyone a Fantastic Festive Holiday and a Prosperous New Year !!

New! US-based IIAR Networking Events in November and December

Liberty SmallAnalyst Relations:  it can be rewarding, exhilarating, frustrating and – despite the fact that we’re often talking with analysts and spokespeople – it can be lonely, too.  Especially when you’re the only one at your company who does what you do . . . or even knows what you do!

As AR professionals, we are often a team of one, haven’t had much formal training, and are being asked to do more than ever before. It’s not easy.  But we’re not alone.  We are part of of a global community, one that is growing, evolving and learning to address new challenges every day.

For several years, IIAR members in the UK and Europe have taken advantage of IIAR Networking Cafe events to meet up, make new contacts, discuss common challenges and opportunities, mentor each other and strengthen the AR Community.

Now, we’re bringing the same opportunity to the the other side of the “pond”.

The IIAR is pleased to announce our first two local U.S. Networking Cafes, sponsored by the AR Forum. These informal evening events will offer U.S.-based AR professionals a chance for networking and exchanging ideas with peers.

These initial U.S. events will be opened to include to all AR professionals, and are not exclusive to members of IIAR.  Any AR professional based near — or traveling to — a host city on the scheduled dates is welcome to RSVP and attend.  Please, pass this information along!

IDC, End-Users and Strategic AR – all at our latest London meeting

MK 2small Panel 1 smallWell, that was a late one but well worth it.

In a mammoth three hour meeting (we didn’t lock the doors, people just didn’t want to leave) those attending last night’s IIAR meeting in London enjoyed an informative interview Marianne Kolding of IDC by Simon ‘Jeremy’ Levin of The Skills Connection.

In his quiet, persistent manner, Simon coaxed Marianne into explaining how IDC works with CIOs and what research it’s now producing for the IT buyer.

And it turns out that there’s quite a lot. Marianne talked through the reach and exposure IDC has with end-users. She also explained several newer services that the company is launching directly to target the CIO and in-house IT decision makers.

David Rossiter of Sunesis/Harvard PR then had the pleasure of chairing a panel discussion on Strategic AR.

It was a spirited, entertaining and insightful conversation. Led by our three panellists – Bill ReedAGTDom PannellUnisys; and our own Yash KhannaTCS – the audience weren’t shy about sharing their views on what they heard as well as their experiences.

We should provide wine and beer more often.

For IIAR members who couldn’t be there in-person, you can listen to recordings of both sessions in Huddle. For non-IIAR members, you can have access if you join up but otherwise you’ve missed out on two great conversations.

Our next meeting is at Christmas on the 9th December, in central London. We’ve got a great party planned, which Dell is kindly sponsoring. You should really come along for at least one drink.
