TGIF – analyst magic quadrant

Funny post here with a “Magic Quadrant” (albeit a 3×3 matrix rather than 2×2): (Humor) The Rosetta Stone of IT Industry Analysts | ZDNet

The World of Analysts (copy 2011 TechVentive, Inc.)

Well worth a read if you have a minute.

More seriously, the point is all about selecting analysts in function of the intended audience and desired results. IMHO, tiering should be not individually and based on objectives rather than preferences, availability or brand.

IIAR APJ Forum and Christmas Drinks – Sydney, Australia

The IIAR APJ will be getting together ahead of the Christmas holidays for an in-person Forum and networking drinks on Tuesday 6 December in Sydney.

The IIAR APJ Forum meeting will be held from 4pm – 6pm in North Sydney to discuss member requirements and plans for the coming year. This is a members-only session.

This will be followed by a Christmas drinks event at a nearby venue open to anyone in the AR or analyst communities. This one’s not sponsored so everyone will be buying their own drinks but it’s a great opportunity to catch up and network. No agenda. No messaging. No PowerPoint!

Time: Tuesday December 6, 6pm until late

Place: The Treehouse, 60 Miller St, North Sydney

If you would like more details about this event please contact Dave Noble via email.

Ovum AR community call tomorrow (22/11/11)

A picture describes things better than a thousand words. In this case, the logos above depict quite well the changes Ovum experienced over the past few years. It will indeed be quite interesting to hear an update from the firm, now under Informa Telecom and Media (and no longer Datamonitor). There’s been some speculation about the future of Informa, so this call promises to be quite interesting. Continue reading
