Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Who guards the guards? This is a question that my peers and I have been discussing for some time. We are in a quandary. Analysts and analyst relations live in a symbiotic relationship where we need each other to thrive – you could argue that we are each others PR team in that the success of one group inevitably helps the other.

Conversely, the effect of a ‘bad apple’ impinges on us all. And so the question remains – who polices the analyst industry? (more…)

Description

NCR Corporation is looking for an experienced, Strategic Analyst Relations professional to help expand our existing analyst relations initiatives. The Analyst Relations Manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships between NCR businesses and key analysts to promote NCR’s solutions and strategies and position NCR as a thought leader. The individual will work across NCR functions including marketing, product development and communications to create and implement cohesive and consistent analyst relations programs for NCR’s Retail, Travel, Entertainment, Healthcare, and Services businesses. The position is part of the Business Intelligence team and will also work closely with Market and Competitive Intelligence professionals to help disseminate and leverage market and competitive intelligence across NCR. Recap of Sept 9th Webinar – TPI shares fascinating insights with the IIAR

Yesterday, the IIAR hosted a teleconference with TPI – the world’s leading provider of sourcing data and advisory services for service providers. The two featured speakers on the call were:

During the webinar, TPI shared some fascinating insights about current market dynamics along with an overview of TPI’s research and consulting services

Discussion Hightlights:

  • Perception to not deliver on services is the top reason for end users not selecting a supplier
  • TPI sees a 3x increase on pressure to hire a tier 1 or tier 2 provider in order to reduce risk
  • TPI says new outsourcing adoption fastest growth is among companies ranked in the 201 – 500 range

Around Helena Schwenk from MWD in 10 questions

Helena Schwenk / MWDToday we have the pleasure to welcome Helena Schwenk (bio, @hmschwenk, blog) who just joined MWD to lead the BI practice and where she reunited with some ex-colleagues. And she’s also a runner, so I’m looking forward to seeing her in races!

  1. What are your coverage areas?
    I cover Information Management (IM), BI and analytics at MWD. This is a huge area so in order to do it justice from a research coverage perspective I am honing in on the areas that I believe offer the most value to enterprises. This will involve looking at topics such as how advanced analytics can improve the speed to business insight and help create sustainable advantage, lowering BI implementation and development costs with Cloud, SaaS, open source BI and plug-and-play appliances, how to squeeze more value from existing IM and BI investments and how disruptive technologies for high performance BI, analytics and data warehousing can provide value. These topics will all form part of my IM and BI research agenda which we’ll be publishing shortly. (more…)
